Pallas Foundation Welcomes Sue Gordon as President of the Board

Washington, DC — The Pallas Foundation for National Security Leadership is pleased to announce that the Honorable Sue Gordon, the former Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, is joining the Board of Directors as President. She has been a transformational leader and mentor with over three decades of intelligence community and private sector experience, and is an expert on technology, innovation and global risk. She has also taught at Duke and Harvard universities, and serves on the Pentagon's Defense Innovation Board with Chair Mike Bloomberg.


In 2018, she retired from government service after a long and ground-breaking career. Her last role was as the second in command of the entire U.S Intelligence Community, where she was a key advisor to the President and National Security Council. During her government service, she focused on increasing innovation across the Intelligence Community, including creating the concept of what became In-Q-Tel, the Central Intelligence Agency's venture arm. She also served as the Deputy Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency from 2015 to 2017, where she led NGA’s transformation to become a modern, integrated, intelligence agency.

During her time in government, Sue Gordon has been recognized numerous times by both government and industry for her ability to lead and innovate, making her a natural fit to support the next generation of national security leaders. With her wealth of knowledge and experience in leadership roles, Ms. Gordon’s appointment shows Pallas Foundation’s commitment to developing and supporting young professionals, specifically from underrepresented groups.

While accepting this new role on Foundation’s board, she will simultaneously step down from her current role on Pallas Advisors’ Advisory Board.
