

Gen. (Ret.) Jim Slife

General (Ret.) James "Jim" Slife served as Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, the service's second-highest-ranking officer, where he oversaw the Air Staff and helped direct strategy and resources for more than 600,000 personnel. He previously commanded Air Force Special Operations Command and served as Vice Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command. Slife spent the majority of his career in special operations aviation assignments, accumulating more than 3,100 flight hours including over 280 in combat. A command pilot, he held leadership positions spanning the Pentagon, U.S. Central Command, and U.S. Forces Korea. General Slife received the Distinguished Service Medal, multiple Defense Superior Service Medals, and the Bronze Star. He holds degrees from Auburn University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and George Washington University.
