Foundation Intern

Pallas Foundation for National Security Leadership seeks to hire an Intern to join our growing team promoting a more diverse and inclusive national security and tech sector. The Intern will support the Pallas Foundation in a variety of ways, from non-profit strategy and fundraising to managing events and donor relations. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, detail-oriented professional who is interested in national security, empowering young professionals, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving team-based environment. Candidates should have excellent writing and presentation skills, as well as a general knowledge of–or interest in–non-profit operations and functions. This role will require exceptional communication skills and the ability to learn and synthesize information quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

Assist with the operational and administrative functions of the Foundation, including helping with tax documentation, providing donor updates, and tracking program success

Support the operations of all of the Foundation’s programmatic efforts

Assist in managing relationships with Foundation donors, as well as generate new donor leads for the organization

Support the execution of events for the Pallas Foundation that are dedicated to advancing and developing the next generation of national security leaders

Develop and maintain a professional network within the non-profit, philanthropic, academic and national security ecosystems

Perform other professionally appropriate assigned tasks as required

Contribute in a meaningful, substantive way to the development of young professionals and future leaders, as well as the wider national security ecosystem

Position may require both domestic and international travel
Qualifications
-
Preference for candidates with some experience in one or more of the following fields: fundraising, finance, accounting, philanthropy, non-profit management, project management, event management, military, government, public policy, consulting, emerging technology, communications, or other relevant philanthropic or national security experience

Completed or pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of business administration, business management, finance, non-profit management, marketing, communications, international relations, political science, or related fields

Excellent problem solving skills and an ability to multi-task while engaging with a broad range of objectives

Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and working within teams

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of and passion for national security

Willingness to continuously learn and push outside of one’s comfort zone

Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to work hard and do the little things that make organizations successful. Be a team player

Part-time (~20 hours per week); Full day (9-5 EST) Mondays preferred, rest of week flexible

About Pallas Foundation for National Security Leadership
The Pallas Foundation aims to foster the education and professional development of emerging leaders with an emphasis on under-represented groups in global and national security. In order to further this mission, the programs the Foundation operates include a paid fellowship program, a scholarship initiative in partnership with Admiral Mike Mullen, and a mentorship program as well as hosting a variety of events where emerging leaders can engage with senior government and industry leaders while discussing relevant issues to national security.
