Executive Director 


Pallas Foundation seeks to hire an Executive Director to join our growing team working to educate and professionally develop emerging leaders from traditionally under-represented groups in global and national security. The Executive Director will further develop the Pallas Foundation, its core functions, and fundraising activities. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving team-based environment. This is an outward facing role that requires exceptional communication skills and an ability to learn and synthesize complex information quickly and effectively. 



  • Manage and supervise the day to day operations of the Foundation.

  • Assist in developing the strategic direction of Pallas Foundation, maintaining current initiatives, and developing future initiatives.

  • Plan, organize, and lead the execution of events for the Pallas Foundation. Ensure highest quality program activities in accordance with mission and values, and maintain systems of accountability and impact.

  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships, external relationships, and new opportunities.

  • Assist in managing fundraising efforts, to include program design, grant writing, donor relationships and ensuring receipt and monitoring of funds.

  • Develop and maintain a professional network within the non-profit and fundraising communities, as well as the national and international security ecosystem.

  • Learn, adopt, and utilize the 'Pallas Methodology' to continue iterative improvement on the campaign plan that supports the Foundation’s strategic goals and develop the ability to leverage and implement that plan with available resources to achieve success. 

  • Develop annual and program budgets together with leadership and program directors and lead quarterly budget meetings.

  • Mentor junior staff members. Work with members of the junior staff on Foundation relationships, initiatives, development of products and research. Ensure professional development opportunities are provided and Pallas' junior staff goals are being met.

  • Monitor, track, understand, and share industry trends that have an impact on the non-profit industry, especially those related to National Security and professional development.

  • Perform other professionally appropriate assigned tasks as required. 

  • Contribute in a meaningful, substantive way to national security.

  • May require both domestic and international travel. 



  • At least four years of relevant work experience. Work in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, program development, project management, military, government, public policy, consulting, emerging technology, or other relevant experience is a plus. 

  • Master’s Degree in the field of nonprofit management, business administration, marketing, international relations, political science, sociology, or related fields. Note that applicants with additional relevant work experience in lieu of Master’s Degree will be considered and are encouraged to apply. 

  • Excellent problem solving skills and an ability to multi-task while engaging with a broad range of partners.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects, events and teams to drive towards foundation objectives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of and passion for nonprofit management, national security, and professional development.

  • Deep commitment to the education and professional development of emerging leaders, especially those from groups traditionally underrepresented in the national security profession.

  • Willingness to continuously learn and push outside of one’s comfort zone.

  • Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to work hard and do the little things that make organizations successful. Be a team player.

  • A sense of humor.
